Traveling with Pets at AVIS Rent a Car

About Traveling with Pets

Some branches do not allow pets in rental vehicles.
Please check the store page for availability.

Advance notice and consent are required if you plan to travel with a pet in the rental car.

To travel with a pet, submission of a signed agreement to the "Pet Travel Rules" is required.

Please review the rules in advance.
On the day of pick-up, you will be asked to complete the consent form at the store.
Without the consent form, traveling with a pet is not permitted.

*Assistance dogs (guide dogs, service dogs, and hearing dogs) are exempt. Government-issued certification is required.

Healthy dogs and cats only

Small or medium-sized pets that can be placed in a cage while traveling

Please prepare the cage by yourself.

When traveling with a pet, please strictly observe the following rules.

Pets must remain inside a cage at all times while in the vehicle.

Taking pets out of the cage inside the vehicle is prohibited.

Providing water or food inside the vehicle is prohibited.

Please promptly clean up any waste.

Leaving pets unattended inside the vehicle is strictly prohibited.

If strong odors or stains remain

If the issue cannot be resolved through standard cleaning

If repairs or special cleaning are required

The rental car company assumes no responsibility for any accidents or illnesses involving pets.
If a pet causes damage to the vehicle or to a third party, the renter shall bear full responsibility.
Damages related to pets are not covered under any compensation or insurance programs.
