Where You Can Park
You may park in the following places.
Coin-operated parking lot
Parking is only permitted when using the commercial facility or hotel
Areas marked with a parking sign
Please be sure to check the facility rules (operating hours and vehicle limits).
Where Parking is Prohibited
Parking is prohibited in the
following locations.
On the road (street parking)
Near crosswalks or intersections
Near entrances/exits or fire hydrants
Areas with no parking/no stopping signs
Monthly Parking
Even stopping "just briefly" or "only to wait for someone" is considered a violation.
Street Parking and Penalties
Street parking is
strictly enforced.
In Japan, street parking is generally prohibited.
If violated, the following parking violation fines will be imposed.
- No Parking Zone: ¥15,000
- No Stopping or Parking Zone: ¥18,000
※The fine amount is the same for both standard vehicles and kei cars.
Depending on the situation, the vehicle may be towed.
Violations are the driver's responsibility
even in a rental car.

How to Use Coin Parking
Coin-operated parking is
common in Japan.
Check the displayed parking fee after entering.
Exit after payment
License plate recognition or lock-plate systems are common
Please be sure to check whether maximum rates or nighttime rates apply.
If You Receive a Parking Violation
If a violation notice (yellow ticket)
is attached
Do not move the vehicle without authorization, and check the posted instructions.
Contact the rental car company
Follow the instructions provided
